Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The Padaippu mobile app and website (collectively, "Padaippu", "we", "us") are operated by Padaippu Pvt Ltd, registered in Chennai, India. You can reach us at pidilworld@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

We only collect data that's necessary to deliver the service. Specifically:

  • Account details — name, email address, mobile number, date of birth, gender, and address.
  • Shipping address (only when ordering a physical book) — full name, mobile, line 1, line 2, city, state, pincode, country.
  • Reading activity — books opened, downloaded, finished; wishlist; ratings and comments you submit.
  • Competition entries — when you enter a competition, the name, email, mobile, and content you submit.
  • Push notification token — issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging on your device, used to deliver in-app notifications.
  • Device identifier — issued by Capacitor's Device API, used for session management.
  • IP address and log data — captured server-side when you call our API; kept for security and debugging.

We do not collect your card numbers, UPI IDs, or bank details — payment data is handled by Razorpay and Stripe (see below).

3. How we use your data

  • To create and run your account.
  • To deliver purchased ebooks and ship physical orders.
  • To process payments and issue receipts.
  • To send push notifications about new releases, order updates, and competition results (you can disable these in app or OS settings at any time).
  • To detect fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access.
  • To improve the app based on aggregated, de-identified usage.

4. Who we share your data with

We share specific pieces of your data with the following third parties so the app works:

  • Razorpay — processes one-off payments for ebook and physical-book purchases. Receives your name, email, mobile, and order amount. India-based, RBI-regulated.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments. Receives your name, email, and subscription details.
  • Google Firebase — push notifications and crash reporting. Receives device identifiers and notification tokens.
  • Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple — when you choose social login, the provider returns your verified email and display name to us. We do not see your password.
  • Amazon Web Services (S3, Mumbai region) — hosts ebook cover images and ePub files.
  • Courier partners — for physical book delivery; receive name, shipping address, mobile.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with third parties for marketing. We share data with law enforcement only when legally compelled.

5. Children's privacy

Padaippu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data to us, contact pidilworld@gmail.com and we will delete it.

6. Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • View your data from within the app (Settings → Account).
  • Export a copy of your data by emailing pidilworld@gmail.com.
  • Delete your account and all associated personal data from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account), or by emailing us. We process deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Data retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active.
  • After account deletion, we keep transaction records (orders, payments, invoices) for 7 years to comply with Indian tax law, then delete them.
  • Reading history and wishlist are deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Push notification tokens are deleted immediately on logout / account deletion.

8. Security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit, encrypted password storage (bcrypt), and bank-grade tokenisation for payments (handled by Razorpay and Stripe — we never see your card number). No system is perfectly secure; if we detect a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you via email within 72 hours.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the app and via email. The Last updated date at the top of this page reflects the latest version.

11. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
